2024 ANNUAL MEETING AT SUNY POTSDAM

We are excited to share with you the program for the 2024 Spring Meeting of the New York State Saint Lawrence Chapter of the American Musicological Society. 

The panels and lightning talks explore the following topics, among others: 

> Exile, Diaspora, and Transnational Dialogues 
> Music in New York 
> Piano Music from Composition to Performance 
> Sound and Media Studies 
> Gender and Singing Spaces 

The keynote address will be offered by Emily Abrams Ansari (University of Western Ontario) and its title is “Music as Craftivism: The “Quiet” Feminist Activism of Ann Southam’s Minimalist Piano Works”.

There will be many networking opportunities and a Graduate Workshop "On Specialized Writing, from Grants to Books", facilitated by William Gibbons (SUNY) and Emily Abrams Ansari.

IMPORTANT: For those traveling to campus by car on Friday and Saturday:
  • All conference visitors: please park in Lot 9 (off Barrington Drive). University Police will not issue citations to conference attendees, provided you park in this lot.
  • All conference sessions will take place in the Crane Music Center, Bishop Hall. Please enter from the Lot 9 door (you will see the large entrance marked “The Crane School of Music”). Upon entering the building, you will see signs for the conference, and rooms C123 and C143 are located immediately next to the lobby.
