We are now ready to share with you the final version of the program. Please download it from here and keep it handy. If you have not registered for the Annual Meeting yet, you can still do it following a link provided. 


Student representative: call for statements of interest 

If you are a graduate student and you are Interested in becoming a graduate representative, please send a brief bio and statement of interest to ams.nyssl at gmail.com by April 16. Feel free to talk with Sadie Menicanin, one of our current reps who will be in Montreal, about what the role involves. There’s more information about this on our Instagram feed (@ams_nyssl).


Student Travel Contribution

If you are a graduate student and you are attending Montreal’s meeting from more than 50 km away, you can send a reimbursement request to ams.nyssl at gmail.com. The Chapter will contribute $50 towards travel expenses of students from out of town participating in the meeting. You need to have registered for the meeting. 


Agenda and Zoom link for General Meeting 

Our Chapter’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday April 14th, at 5:20pm. You can participate in person or remotely, using this Zoom link. The Agenda is attached, including the minutes from last year’s meeting. Please let us know if you would like to add an item to the Agenda.

Dear AMS-NYSSL Members,  My colleagues and I are really looking forward to welcoming you to Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, for our annual meeting of the AMS -NYSSL chapter. The conference will run from Tuesday April 16 through Wednesday April 17. The schedule is posted below [click on image to enlarge]. Location: The conference will be held in Room 329 at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts i n Kingston, Ontario (390 King St W, Kingston, ON K7L 2X4). There will be greeters at the main doors to direct you to the conference room.    Travel to Kingston: Kingston is less than 300 km from Montreal, 200 km from Ottawa, and about 250 km from Toronto. Megabus provides comfortable and affordable coach service from these cities. Call For Proposals: 2024 Annual Meeting of the AMS - NYSSL Chapter

Host Institution: State University of New York, Potsdam, New York, USA Chair: Professor Erin Brooks Date: April 12-13, 2024 Deadline for proposals: Thursday, February 1, 2024 We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Annual Meeting of the New York State St. Lawrence Chapter of the American Musicological Society will take place on Friday and Saturday 12-13 April, at Potsdam (USA), hosted by the State University of New York Potsdam and chaired by Professor Erin Brooks.  We welcome proposals for 20-minute presentations on all areas of scholarship in music, in addition to proposals for panels or alternate format sessions. We also encourage proposals for a session of lightning talks consisting of five-minute research presentations on any topic (including work-in-progress).   Please use this submission form to submit proposals for all types of presentations. 2024 ANNUAL MEETING AT SUNY POTSDAM

We are excited to share with you the program for the 2024 Spring Meeting of the New York State Saint Lawrence Chapter of the American Musicological Society.  The panels and lightning talks explore the following topics, among others:  > Exile, Diaspora, and Transnational Dialogues  > Music in New York  > Piano Music from Composition to Performance  > Sound and Media Studies  > Gender and Singing Spaces  The keynote address will be offered by Emily Abrams Ansari (University of Western Ontario) and its title is “ Music as Craftivism : The “Quiet” Feminist Activism of Ann Southam’s Minimalist Piano Works ”.
