American Musicological Society, New York State - St. Lawrence Chapter (NYSSL)

As you may have predicted, given the news that Covid-19 has reached pandemic status, the Chapter meeting organizers and officers have made the difficult decision to cancel the conference. Inspired by the program and to honor the work that had already been invested in holding the conference, it seemed that a virtual or online conference would offer a solution. But a few days of working with the logistics of moving to online formats for remainder of term, as well as for exams, has proved demanding not only of the instructors and TAs, but also of the tech staff at all our universities. It no longer seems feasible. We propose to hold the conference at Colgate University next year (2021). Mary Simonson, program chair and co-organizer of the Chapter meeting with Seth Coluzzi, has already written to many of you. To summarize, if you were presenting this year, you will be guaranteed a spot on the program next year. We will send out another CFP and expand the program to two full days to give

Dear AMS-NYSSL Members, We and our colleagues look forward to welcoming you to Colgate University in Hamilton, NY for our annual meeting of the AMS-NYSSL chapter. The conference will run from Thursday, April 2 at 9 am through Friday, April 3 at lunchtime. Registration and Membership/Conference Fee:  The AMS-NYSSL chapter no longer collects member dues; rather, we have moved to a “conference fee” model, where we have two rates: Regular (employed faculty, $20) and Other (student, contingent, etc., $10). You can pay this fee in cash upon arrival at the conference. Travel to Hamilton: Hamilton is in the geographic center of New York State, approximately one hour from Syracuse, two hours from Rochester and Albany, three hours from Buffalo and Kingston, and four and a half hours from Toronto and Montreal. While it is easiest to reach Hamilton by car, the closest airport to campus is Syracuse International Airport, and the closest Amtrak train station is the Utica Station. Ground t
