Conference Report, 2018 The annual NYSSL Chapter meeting of the AMS took place over the April 14-15 weekend at SUNY, Fredonia, in NY. Many thanks to Fredonia’s Dr. James Davis for heading up the program committee and taking care of local arrangements. The committee put together a diverse array of papers that offered much in the way of discussion. Attendees also enjoyed a compelling Keynote address “Deficient Media, Extraordinary Musics, Mozart, Distance—and the Art of Love” by Dr. Jamie Currie (University at Buffalo) that deconstructed proximity and distance as vehicles for transformation. Participants were also able to see the stunning production, Spring Awakening on Saturday evening. For the first time in the chapter, a professional development session “Dissertation-to-Publication Workshop” organized and led by Dr. Kimberly Francis, was offered, to great accolades. Thank you, Kim! We will experiment with more of these sessions in the future so please send ideas to your graduate
